World Storytelling Day!

Enigma Magazine is slowly churning out the 4th issue, as well as it having a new format – and it’s for a very good reason, one that I will reveal to you soon! I’m very excited if this plan can be implemented well.

March 20th is World Storytelling Day – a celebratory event that notes the birth of story telling from mouth to page to stage and finally to screen. Every year has a theme, and this one is Light and Shadow. As the online section has been a little neglected recently, I invite you to write or speak stories, poetry or playscripts to be involved online in the Light and Shadow theme. Try to get them in before the 20th!

If you can remember from Nov in 2009, Taffy Thomas was appointed the first Storytelling Laureate for a two year term, for emphasing the importance of oral storytelling in our current day. Here is a link to the Guardian’s article : http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2009/nov/02/taffy-thomas-storytellling-laureate. If that’s not a reason to celebrate World Storytelling Day, I don’t know what is!
